Improve this answer. According to Microsoft\’s own docs, you can reduce the size of the WinSxS folder , although my experience is that it still ends up being quite large. It has over 30GB. The Installer folder is used in order to uninstall applications. You can delete it, but then you won\’t be able to uninstall any installed application not recommended. Is there something I\’m missing here?

It seems all I can do is try to reformat and move Windows to an external hard drive but I\’d really like to try something else before trying that.
