My laptop is a Lenovo which is just over a year old and was shipped with Windows 8, which I upgraded to Windows From the day I got it with Windows 8 , there was a house icon on the desktop taskbar which had the name \’Start Menu\’.

I have found out that Lenovo installed a third party \’start\’ app from a company called Pokki. I didn\’t realise this and always thought the house icon, Pokki\’s Start Menu was part of Windows it obviously was not.

I can confirm that the genuine Windows 10 Start Menu, the windows logo icon in the bottom left hand corner is working perfectly.

My problem seems to have occurred because on 30th October , Windows Defender advised me of a Malware alert which it had quarantined – this Malware was Pokki. Believing it to be malware I told Defender to delete it. Of course once Pokki software was removed from my system the Pokki Start Menu short cut could no longer find its target.
